Thanks to my Howard Insider affiliate (and brother), Jon, for this YouTube find of the month!
I had numerous arguments with people back in college about existance of a third verse to the now notorious piece of pop culture, that is The Fresh Prince of Bell Aire Theme. Actually, its a second verse that was cut from between the two verses that everyone has ingrained in their heads.
Well, it was only shown during the pilot episode, but here is the full version of the Fresh Prince Theme Song:

The much underrated Lyfe Jennings is back with his sophmore effort, The Phoenix. With the success of "S.E.X.", the albums debut single, this album is sure to do better than his first, which his label promoted for overtwo years. However, it looks like someone skimpped on the album art budget, cause this mess looks like was made on an Apple IIe with Print Shop 1.0.

Looks like our girl Free* has finally realized that at nearly 40 years of age, it's time to put ot rest her aspirations of becoming a rapper. Unfortunely, she has taken on R&B. The track " I Love You" leaked on the internet last week via her Myspace page. It's okay...I guess.
*Last year, Joi's Ramblings broke the "Real" story behind Free and AJ's aburpt exit from BET's 106 & Park.
No Really, Just Stop Part II (AKA Umm....)
Okay, so maybe Atlanta isn't the only city that needs to pick up it's "Ho Sit Down Card" from the Pop Culture Police. I failed to mention the last time that DC's "Beat Yo' Feet" craze is a felony offense. I still shutter when I remember the first time I saw some kids out side of Last Stop battling.
BEAT YO FEETS! Is this why DC test scores are so low? Where is the teacher?
But, New York you guys are wilding too! I mean any dance called "The Chicken Noodle Soup" needs to be arrested and sent to solitary confinement. Does this thing make you feel better when you have flu? Is there a spin off called "The Saltine Cracker?" And is this "soda on the side" a warm ginger ale? Lawd, help the children!

You Can't Be Serious Part III
Indian summer is turning into a season of Indian giving. Be-yawn-ce, whose mediocre single, Deja Vu ft Jay Z, was meant with lukewarm response, had been planning to release her second single, Ring the Alarm this week. By Monday, after bad focus group feedback, the single was pulled from radio station playlists and the video (which premiered on Yahoo Music) was scratched, too. Be-Yawn-Ce, Ring the Alarm I had been trying to avoid listening to it previously, turning down opportunities to download leaked versions, but this morning I had the chance to watch the video---FOUR WORDS: YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS? I'm not sure if B. got the memo after the Deja Vu debacle, but the choreographer she is not. She again resorts to a spasmodic flash dance on crack "dance" (I use that word loosely) routine that leaves the viewer with heart burn. I mean B. You have the budget to afford Fatima and I don't think she's that busy these days. A joint venture might be good for the both of you. Plus, what's the point in the whole Basic Instinct theme if she's not going to do the leg cross. Not that I'm looking forward to see her crotch, but for authenicity sake...
My other issue is simple: for the hottest chick in the game you sure are a copy cat. I mean, am I the only one that hears "Caught Out There" by Kelis when you listen to B. lyrics? Seems like Mrs. Jones is a true Boss--"I was the first, chick to scream on a track".

Once a year, black people take a step back, relax their hood rules, and issue a hood pass to one lucky white person. Vanilla Ice started the trend off on shakey ground. Color Me Bad and Snow didn't help the cause. The Marshall Mathers LP ushered in the Emimen era. Then came Bubba Sparx sponsered by Timberland. Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River" got some spin on Urban radio. Gwen Steffani's "Bananas" was the Hood Pass Hit of 2005. This year's winner:
Expect to to hear this song blasted during DJ's Drive at 5 mixes everywhere!

Somebody is Hitting the Chapel
Kayne West has reportedly popped the question to long time girlfriend, Alexis. Sources say she was his girlfriend before his October 2002 car accident that inspired hit debut hit " Through the Wire." I guess we can assume this is the girl he referenced in that song:
And just imagine how my girl feel On the plane scared as hell that her guy look like Emitt Till She was with me before the deal she been trying to be mine She a delta so she been throwing them Dynasty signs
Looks like the Delta won out over the girl from the Grammy's. I think it's safe to assume that Kayne used his verse on Pharell's "Number 1" to explain how and why he realized that the grass wasn't greener:
Yesterday I was half the man you see Baby thats because you the other half of me You my number 1 hit on the line of the charts I'mma (FedEx) my love and have you +sign+ for my heart For my number 1 I keep ya dumb fly Fresh to death you like after death I resurrected my gold Jesus of NazarethNow we (Fresh) as a (Prince) while they (Jazzy Jeff)And you don't be saying shit when they asking questions A-a-and you be giving me my space a-a-and You don't be running on +myspace+ a-a-and You know some other shit I hate w-w-what W-w-when they violate b-but Tonight man I ain't in the mood for it Don't matter who wore it, you wore it. Look how ya co-or Dinated man that's my favorite
Stateside and Feeling Fresh!

Hopefully you guys aren't running on life support. I have been out of the country and out of the loop for 7 days living the good life on the white sand beaches of the Dominican Republic. But, have no fear! I have returned, refreshed and rejuvenated. Plus, I have a ton of distractions to administer.
